Viking Competition

As part of the Dannevirke Viking Market Day being held tomorrow schools were challenged to decorate a viking. Nythanealle, Rania and Daniel were in charge of decorating the viking for Huia Range School. We think they did a great job and eagerly await judging results.

Kapa Haka Competition

Our Kapa Haka group recently competed in a competition held at the Dannevirke Town Hall. They performed very well taking out four of the five trophies available in the primary schools section.

Well done to them!!

Interschool Aerobics

We had eight teams compete at the Interschool Aerobics competition held at the Dannevirke Town Hall. It was congratulations to Ashleigh, Sarah, Casey and Stacey who very deservedly won the senior competition. Hope, Hine, He Mahana, Sharlei and Teina also performed well and were placed 3rd in the senior competition. 3rd place in the intermediate event went to Tyla, Kydin, Zane and Maia for their great performance. School Aerobics

We had so many children wanting to take part in inter-school aerobics that we had our own competition to see which teams would go through. Below are some images of our school competition.

Junior Rugby

Our Junior rugby team combined with players from Puketoi to compete in both the town and inter-town (Dvke-Waipukurau) competition this year. Although they lost their semi-final in the intertown competition, they won the town competition. Below the boys are playing in the inter-town semi-final.

Red Socks Day

This year we got involved in Red Socks Day (Leadership Week). Our leaders organised a tabloid sports afternoon where the children went around different activities in their houses. Of course the weather was not kind but our leaders used their initiative and adapted to the weather providing inside games.

Well done leaders. Everyone had a great afternoon.

Basketball

Our two basketball teams played each other tonight in the final for the B Grade cup.

Midget Rugby

This is our Midget rugby team. Here they are playing a South School team.

Ropes Course

Yesterday Room 11 (our boys only class) visited the Ropes Course on Railway Road in Palmerston North. We had the most amazing day. With the help of fantastic instructors and each other we worked through challenges to reach new HEIGHTS!!

Senior Rugby

This our senior rugby team who combine with Puketoi. The boys are in Years 7 and 8. Here they are playing Dannevirke South School.

Rippa Rugby 2012

Interschool Cross-Country

Today, Friday 8 June, a number of Huia Range students traveled out to Weber for Interschool Cross Country. The track was very wet and muddy, although the day was fine. We all performed very well and our school is proud of us.

The Ponamu Syndicate held their cross-country at the Dannevirke A&P Show-grounds this year.

Music Festival

Students from the primary schools around Dannevirke recently put on a music festival. We sent a choir along to take part and show off their talents.

Duathlon

At the end of Term 1 Huia Range School attempted to hold a triathlon, however the weather was not kind. Instead we held a duathlon at school.

Swimming Sports 2012

The Huia Range School Tuakana Syndicate Swimming Sports were held Friday 9 March at the Wai Splash Pools.  Competition was fierce with results being shared around, especially at the senior end of the school.

Kahurangi Performance

We have recently had the Kahurangi group, from Hastings visit and perform for us.  It was very informing and entertaining.
